What to do in Yakutat!
One of the Best Small Beach Towns on the West Coast.
"Why it's so great: Alaska's got a ton of beaches (think about it, it's a HUGE state) but the ones in Yakutat offer the kind of thing you usually only find in Hawaii: big-wave surfing."
If you've never been to a N.W. Coast rainforest, you'll be amazed by its green, lush beauty. Yakutat is nestled among the Tongass National Forest, a rainforest in its own right. Explore the forest on many trails, hike fjords and iceberg-filled glacial lakes or trek along the miles of grey sandy beaches. You're going to love it.
Enjoy scenery, glacier tours, and world-class fishing in the many local rivers and in the ocean. Other activities include beachcombing, sea kayaking, wildlife watching, surfing, hiking, camping, bird watching, and more!
For a small community, Yakutat is long on things to do including:

Helpful hints for fishing in Yakutat:
You will want to rent a car if you are an avid fish-seeker and like to try as many holes in one day as is possible.
Charters need to be booked early, as well, so call us with the group size and charter type (salmon, halibut, sightseeing) and we will arrange it for you.
Fishermen, bring your own gear, bait, boots, etc.
We have a walk-in freezer and a heated, indoor fish cleaning station with restroom facilities.
